Hvar Yacht Charter
Best time to visit · June to September. July and August offer the best nightlife and warmest seas. June and September are quieter, with fragrant lavender in bloom during June.
Hvar is Croatia’s most glamorous island and one of the most celebrated yacht charter destinations in the Mediterranean. The town of Hvar, clustered around a 13th-century harbour overlooked by a Venetian fortress, is where yacht culture, gastronomy, and nightlife converge. By day, the harbour fills with gleaming yachts rafted side by side; by night, the waterfront restaurants, cocktail bars, and legendary beach clubs come alive.
Beyond the town, Hvar reveals a very different character. The interior is a patchwork of lavender fields, olive groves, and stone-walled vineyards, with hilltop villages that feel untouched by time. The Pakleni Islands, a chain of pine-covered islets just offshore, offer some of the best swimming and snorkelling in Croatia, with crystal-clear water over white-pebble seabeds. For charter guests, Hvar is typically a one- or two-night stop, providing a perfect mix of social energy and natural beauty.
Arriving and mooring in Hvar
Hvar Town’s harbour is one of the busiest and most photographed in Croatia during peak season, and most guests spend one or two nights here, either rafted alongside other yachts near the town centre or at anchor in one of the calmer bays a short tender ride away. Crews typically time arrival for late afternoon, giving guests time to walk up to the Fortica fortress before dinner while the light is still good for photographs over the harbour.
Hvar within a longer route
Hvar sits on nearly every itinerary that runs along the central and southern Dalmatian coast. Guests following our Into the South route or our Southern Explorer itinerary both pass through Hvar, usually pairing a night in the town with a day at anchor in the Pakleni Islands just offshore, where the water is calmer and considerably quieter than the harbour itself. For guests covering the full length of the coast, Hvar is also a stop on our Grand Voyage route between Dubrovnik and the Kornati.
Yachts that regularly call at Hvar include NIKITA, LE CHIFFRE, PREWI and DREAM, a 33.3 metre Cyrus Yachts motor yacht, so our crews are familiar with both the harbour at its busiest and the quieter anchorages guests often prefer instead.
Why charter to Hvar with a Croatia based crew
Hvar rewards guests who know when to be in the harbour and when to be well away from it. Because our crews sail this coast all season from our base in Sibenik, they can time a visit to Hvar Town for the golden hour and then move the yacht to a quiet Pakleni anchorage for the night, rather than leaving guests wedged among the crowds simply because that is where the itinerary says to stop.
