Dubrovnik — the “Pearl of the Adriatic” — needs little introduction. Its immaculately preserved medieval walls, baroque churches, and limestone-paved streets have earned it UNESCO World Heritage status and a place on every discerning traveller’s list. Seen from the water, the city is even more dramatic: honey-coloured ramparts rising sheer from the sapphire Adriatic, with terracotta rooftops cascading down the hillside behind.

For charter guests, Dubrovnik serves as either a spectacular embarkation point for northbound itineraries or a grand finale for those cruising south from Split. The ACI Marina at Komolac and the Old Port beneath the city walls both offer berths, and the nearby Elaphiti Islands — Lopud, Sipan, and Kolocep — provide idyllic first-night anchorages just a short cruise away. Ashore, don’t miss the walk along the full circuit of the city walls, dinner at a clifftop restaurant overlooking the sea, or a cable-car ride to the summit of Mount Srd for panoramic views.

Boarding day in Dubrovnik

Charters starting in Dubrovnik usually board in the early afternoon at the ACI Marina in Komolac, a quieter, more sheltered berth a short drive up the Rijeka Dubrovacka inlet from the old town, or at the Old Port directly beneath the city walls for guests who want to step off the yacht straight into the historic centre. Most first time visitors arrive a day early to walk the full circuit of the walls and see the city before the crowds build, then board the following afternoon once the crew has finished provisioning.

Because Dubrovnik sits at the southern end of the Dalmatian coast, it works as either the start or the end of a charter, and our crews plan both directions equally often. The Elaphiti Islands, just west of the city, make an easy and beautiful first anchorage for guests easing into the pace of a charter on their first afternoon aboard.

Two ways to sail from Dubrovnik

The waters around Dubrovnik feature in two of our itineraries.
